Anyone who has experienced the empty feelings, the despair, the loss and loneliness of having a dog or cat run away or get lost, has certainly had thoughts in their minds about how and what you can do to make sure that never happens again to your fur baby

That’s exactly how the idea of Furtrieve was started. Furtrieve was founded by Jordan Hetlund after one of his pups got through his invisible fence and took off.  Jordan was lucky and was able to recover his dog, but millions of other people around the country have not had similar success.  Jordan decided to create something new that ultimately solved the problem of pet’s being lost or even taken.  After researching options already on the market and learning that the microchip only does passive ID (which doesn’t track your pet), the blueprint for the most dynamic and revolutionary tracking device started to unfold

The initial Furtrieve solution was a GPS tracking device with a speaker and microphone on it, so you can not only track your pet, but also speak to your pet and to someone that finds them. As the need for keeping our pets safe evolves, so does Furtrieve. Over the years, Furtrieve has created new technologies to strengthen the options for finding your lost pet and we’re now launching our newest devices Furtrieve Pro and Purrtrieve (for cats and smaller dogs).

Jordan’s vision for the company didn’t stop there though, he envisioned an entire pet tech eco-system that enabled pet people to connect with other pet owners socially so he created Furtrieve Community which launches in Spring of 2025. Jordan spent years working to understand the pet health industry and realized there are some gaps that he believes can be addressed with technology. Adding veterinarians to team helped realize this vision and Dr. Heidi Ball joined in 2023 to help build that vision. In 2024, another veterinarian, Dr. Kimberly Simmons joined as an advisor as well. Together, with the Furtrieve marketing and tech team we’ve been building a soon to be launched dog health app called Furtrieve Health. Furtrieve Health provides a comprehensive view of all a dog’s life and health

This includes a view and actionable information of their diet (and issues that come from pet food), drugs, activity, vaccines, and an overall long term view of everything about your pet’s health to make better more informed decisions. This new technology also ingests video pet behavior and correlates it to all the other data available to help you better the life of your pet. Lastly, Health will provide a pet cost calculator for owners to understand their pet costs and to find cost effective pet services. We are proud to provide products and services to help keep our furry loved ones safe, while building a Community to support one another.
